Love and hate: interracial couples speak out about the racism they’ve faced
Comments The miscegenation of our society may seem to be growing at a steady rate based on how often we’ve been talking about race lately. But let’s not kid ourselves. Interracial relationships represent approximately seven percent of couples in the country, which is incredible progress considering they represented just. But for our ever-diversifying nation, these are alarmingly low figures. For the most part, everyone is still sticking to their “own kind. But one thing remains certain:
Although I am not a racist, I believe that interracial marriage is generally a bad idea. CMV. (myview) submitted 4 years ago * by experimental34 Before I begin, I wish to reiterate that I am not a racial supremacist of any sort.
Rastafarianism is a black culture. I disagree with them. It’s a lack of self-love. Have you ever dated outside your race? Nah, not dated [giggles]. Have you slept with anybody outside your race?

Aug 12, · The country has a long way to go in terms of racial discourse, period. In the case of interracial dating, there are still huge stereotypes, misconceptions, .
SHARE Intimate interracial relationships have long been considered indicative of the social distance between groups, a barometer for gauging race relations. Social distance describes the feelings of similarity and closeness, or dissimilarity and rejection, that members of a group have toward members of some other group Bogardus ; Simmel Increasing rates of interracial and interethnic marriage—from about 7 percent in to 15 percent in Pew Research —are therefore indicative of improved race relations.
Still, rates of interracial marriage remain much lower than would exist if race were irrelevant to partner choice. Given the relative scarcity of interracial relationships, sociologists have long sought to explain why they happen. That is, how and why do some couples overcome the substantial barriers to such unions? This is generally conceived of as a gendered exchange in which white women achieve upward mobility by marrying socioeconomically-advantaged minority men.
If these exchanges occur, the resulting unions might undermine racial boundaries by uniting an interracial couple and generating mixed-race children, but they would also reinforce racial inequality by affirming that minority status is undesirable—presumably, the white partner would not accept a minority suitor unless tempted by the promise of upward socioeconomic mobility or easy sex. Engaging in race-status exchange means that both partners perceive whiteness as better and more desirable—which implies at least some degree of internalized racism.
Yet it seems intuitive that it is the least racist individuals who would be most likely to enter interracial unions.

April 27, at I am as swedish as we get and I do not want my guys to buy me things and pay for dinner. And yes, some chivlary is nice but not too much, if a man try to pull out my chair it makes me laugh, do hold the door up, but next time when I walk thrpugh the door first, let me hold it up to him. I had wrote a profile, from the heart some time ago, but had not signed up due to career demands and to be blunt, I had grown tired of the online dating world as it seemed to bring negative people and experiences in my life. I came to the point in my life that after much dating and striking out, I needed to stop being a mile wide and an inch deep about my choices in men. I had to stop being so shallow about stupid crap like, is he fine? Does he have a penis like a horse? Qualities that go beyond the level of melanin, like integrity, honesty, a strong sense of family and value of marriage, commitment, love, affection, little-to-no drama, and loyalty led me to my choice.
For the first time in my life, I picked character above color, and I will not ever apologize for that. This is shallow thinking, and any relationship based on anything remotely related to these reasons will be doomed from the start.
